Lumens is the unit of measure that determines how much light a bulb or a fixture (that includes a light source) will give off.  Years ago, light output was measured in watts simply because we purchased light bulbs based upon the watts needed to power it. We would have an idea as to how bright a bulb would be based upon how many watts it consumed. Now that there are many more bulb/fixture options which require different number of watts, we are correctly measuring them in lumens.

A watt (W) is a unit of measurement of power. Watts therefore refer to the power of your device. Examples: a LED Wall Pack has a power of 60W.

Color temperature is a way to describe the light appearance provided by a light bulb or a fixture. It is measured in degrees of Kelvin (K) on a scale from 1,000 to 10,000.

LED chips can last up to 150,000 hours or more depending upon the situation and how you use them. If the LED is exposed to extreme temperatures or high current levels, then that too will reduce its life span.

LED bulbs or lights are considered to be green because they use less energy versus the other lighting options. They also do not have harmful components such as the gases that you may find in fluorescent bulbs. Finally, they need to be replaced less often which means fewer light components sitting in landfills.

LED lights do burn out eventually and that is typically based upon how they are used and the environment in which they are exposed to. Using the right light fixture, having the right amount of current and not exposing LED lights to extreme elements will help to keep them from burning out.

IP Rating are used to define levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies (tools, dirt etc) and moisture.

The numbers that follow IP each have a specific meaning. The first indicates the degree of protection (of people) from moving parts, as well as the protection of enclosed equipment from foreign bodies. The second defines the protection level that the enclosure enjoys from various forms of moisture (drips, sprays, submersion etc).

IK Rating is defined in international standards and indicates the level of resistance an electrical enclosure provides against mechanical impact.

The numbers that follow the IK have a specific meaning and indicate the level of protection from mechanical impact. It is a 1 to 10 system with a higher number indicating a more robust product able to maintain safety at higher energy impacts.

In large or commercial spaces that require major lighting, photometrics play an important role. It allows architects and lighting designers to know if the light is enough for a space. It can confirm brightness, intensity, evenness of light and more. It also enables understanding of costs and allow for planning of electrical needs.
Photometric light study is the study of light itself, not just a type of lighting. Photometrics, photometric analysis and photometric studies are just different names of the same thing. It focuses on how a light leaves a fixture and goes into the surrounding area it is in. It is a computer simulation of light. It is very important knowledge for the people who are in the business of working with light fixtures and lighting design.
